Oscar Worthy 1960s/70s Burnt Orange Dress withMatching Cape Maribou Trimmed Hood

  

When I first saw thought it was all one piece a la Lupito at the Oscars that one year in that fab white piece. Caped dresses have been a big hit on the red carpet. But it's actually two separate pieces.

Very sexy empire sheath dress with that fab gathering at bust that can really make the girls pop depending on your size. The bodice is tailored to really show off chest area; no shoulder seams just has those deeper armholes and top goes around to the back where it forms like a collar which is also fasted with 2 snaps.

Believe it is that thinner polyester knit (medium weight) so depending on your measurements can really hug the curves or not. You can wear the dress alone for a typical 60s/70s look but when you add the cape va va voom it transforms into an evening/ballgown. The camera didn't really catch the colors; not as orange as appears in pix.

My first thought was a darker persimmon or burnt orange. Pix show styling pretty well though. I just love the cape; looks like maribou trim. It has ties at neck and then has curved hem so the drape is to die for. I just cannot say enough. Really a stand out piece; no wall flowers in this baby. You could also wear each piece separately. Cape would be great with jeans and you can do a lot with the dress to change it up with jewelry, shawls, shoes, etc. It is in good vintage condition; noticed one streak down the back tried to show in last pix it's long but given the fullness of cape you don't really see.

A few other tiny color variations on back but just not seen and couldn't photograph. Would be a great drag queen piece.

Given that it's polyester there is a little stretch but when put on my larger fake mannequin couldn't zip up beyond the waist area. Be ready to shock people speechless in this beauty! Underarm to underarm across the back 15.5 17.5 stretched but more room in front due to gathers; stretched about 22.5.

Across the empire waist 11.5 unstretched 15 stretched. Across the hips 19 22 stretched.
